The giant wooden horse that stands at the entrance to this ancient city founded in the 3rd millennium B.C. symbolizes the war immortalized in Homer’s epic, which is regarded as the beginning of European literature.

The environs of Troy are a touristic treasure trove. Ideal for a holiday getaway with the Gallipoli Peninsula where the famous World War I battle was fought, as well as the islands of Bozcaada with its Piri Reis Museum and, last not but least, Gokceada.

Ultra exciting: marathon on run on the Lycian Way, the second of turkey’s first ultra marathons has ended.

The Lycian Way Ultra Marathon (LYUM) started at Fethiye Kayakoy with 27 individual and 12 corporate runners. The marathon, which covers a close to 240-kilometer portion of the 509-kilometer Ancient Lycian Way, ended at the ancient city of Phaselis near Antalya. Athletes contended with difficult natural conditions in the race, which was run a leg a day for six days. In first place this year was Mustafa Kiziltas with a total time of 31 hours 29 minutes and 42 seconds.
